2. Feed Kilifi
· Feed Kilifi is a project developed with the support of Caritas Ambrosiana.
· The project started in April 2015. It’s aimed to promote sustainable development in the arid areas of Kilifi County and reduce the poverty level of local communities, affected by a situation of severe drought and food insecurity.
3. Cook Stove Project
· Farmers are being trained on how to conserve energy by using a stony rock-bed to preserve heat and let it last longer. This is one of the measures to combat the rapid deforestation rate.
4. Mahali Pa Usalama
· “Mahali Pa Usalama” (MPU) is a rescue centre. The project was initiated in 2008 by the Archdiocese leadership. The idea was conceived when it became apparent that many children were being abused at home, streets, and on beaches by people who were supposed to provide care and protection. It is located in Tudor Mombasa center Mombasa County and is the only referral healing center for abused children in the coastal region.
5. SOLGIDI
· “Solidarity with Girls in Distress” is a program of the Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa initiated to empower children from families of commercial sex workers in Mombasa County of the coast region. The program started in April 2002. The main goal of SOLGIDI is to provide opportunities for education and lead a normal accepted life for children of Commercial Sex workers (CSWs).
The beneficiaries are mostly female children of CSWs up to the age of 18 years, while guardians and siblings become secondary beneficiaries. SOLGIDI contributes towards the improvement of the lifestyles of children by providing basic education and life skills.
