Fr. David Kalua
Vocations Director
The vocations office, headed by Fr. David Kalua, is in charge of the formation and well-being, especially of those aspiring to join the priesthood. The office offers guidance to priestly formation, path to sisterhood, or the path to serve as a religious brother.
With regard to those joining the seminary willing to be priests. the office assists the aspirants right from their infancy to the Holy Orders.
As per the Diocesan recommendations, those aspiring to be priests are required to serve for a period of come and see. After that, they join any of the national seminaries for their spiritual year. This is followed by 3 years of Philosophical studies and finally four years of Theological studies.
The national seminaries are:
- St. Mary's - Molo
- St. Augustine's - Mabanga
- St. Thomas Aquinas - Nairobi
- Christ the King - Nyeri
During the long holidays after school, mostly between the months of May and August, the seminarians are sent to parishes across the Archdiocese for them to get some pastoral experience.
Upon completion of studies, the candidates are prepared for the Holy Orders starting with Deaconate and then later Priesthood.
